A man was found lying in a pool of blood in the 3400 block of North J Street in the Harrowgate section of Philadelphia, late Monday night. According to CBS3 police received a 911 call reporting gunshots in the area, shortly after 11:30 p.m. The victim who police believe is in his 20′s was found shot numerous times in the back, and was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. Police also say they found numerous bullet casings around the corner on E. Estaugh Street, where they believe the shooting took place. According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, the man had no identification on him, so they are still working on identifying him. Investigators are also hoping that surveillance cameras on numerous businesses in the area might have caught something they can use in their investigation as reported by 6ABC and NBC10. Patrons of DoDo Chinese Restaurant on Kensington Ave. watch from the window as police gather evidence at the scene, while others snapped photos with their camera phones. SEPTA buses and trains passed by and riders glanced over the scene. Members of the Philadelphia Crime Scene Unit, and the Medical Examiner’s Office photograph the man and his injuries, hoping to ID him, before he was removed from the scene. |

Speakers include Dr. C William Schwab, Professor of Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. John Rich, Professor at the Drexel University School of Public Health, and Shira Goodman, Executive Director of Ceasefire PA. The Pillars of Peace and the Global Peace Index, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Carriage House/LGBT Center, 3907 Spruce Street, at the University of Pennsylvania. Heeding God’s Call, a faith-based movement to prevent gun violence, has announced a Good Friday Vigil in Philadelphia, on March 29th, 2013. According to police, the victim was shot several times in his upper torso and was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. As police investigated, about a dozen of the victim’s friends and family members of gather along the sidewalk, and in an abandoned lot across the street. A man who identified himself as ‘Baby Boy’ said “I don’t play around on these streets anymore, ’cause I don’t want my kids to see me this way.” A man who identified himself as the victim’s cousin watches the investigation. |
