Background checks for gun sales should be MANDATORY!

Dear Paythia,

The power to save lives rests in the hands of our Pennsylvania leaders. The question is, will they 

stand up and drive action on common sense reforms that would keep us all safer?

We need our U.S. Senators -- Sen. Toomey and Sen. Casey --  to support a background check

 on all gun sales. Sign our petition right now, and we’ll send your signatures asking our 

leaders to do their part in Washington.

This week, CeaseFirePA stood with allies from across the state and from 

Mayor Bloomberg’s national coalition of mayors and police chiefs to deliver a simple message:

Every gun sale -- in Pennsylvania, and anywhere in America -- should take place after a background check has been performed.

This is a simple measure and doesn’t place any undue burden on our citizens. Most background checks take about 2 minutes. It’s a common sense reform, and we need it immediately.

In Harrisburg, leaders like Attorney General Kathleen Kane have paved the way for progress. With the support 

of our community and our allies, we’ve seen a number of major goals met in the past few weeks.

We have the momentum, and our national leaders need to hear from us. Speak up and tell 

Sen. Toomey and Sen. Casey to support a background check for all gun sales.
