The sad part of it is for the most part; once the time has been paid the slate is not wiped clean. The conviction is held over the ex offenders head not just as a reminder but as a weapon formed against him to not get a job, to never be able to earn respect, to fail at all attempts to redeem oneself. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know that some people are out to beat the system and perpetrate CHANGE; I will address that topic at a later time.
This comment is only in support of those who paid their time and are working toward a life's change. If we as a nation is ever going to put a dent in recidivism we must stop holding those individuals who are doing the right thing hostage with a debt to society over their head and start supporting them with a SECOND CHANCE for PROGRESS!
