We don't find much joy to share at GunCrisis.org, but we paused on Tuesday to celebrate our latest accomplishment, while remembering the victims and survivors of gun violence Philadelphia.
The Gun Crisis Reporting Project has been honored to partner with the School of Media and Communication at Temple, which brought Nidaa Husain from her home in Johannesburg to work with us on a fellowship this summer.

Husain’s work takes viewers close to the bereaved, to examine the wide spectrum and long tail of the gun violence. Mothers in Charge, Philadlephia’s leading program for families affected by gun violence, invited Husain to sit in their grief support meetings.

Husain followed Philadelphia Ceasefire, a public health intervention program that interrupts retaliatory violence and the generational transmission of learned violent behavior. And she attend a vigil with members of the Charles Foundation and Heeding God’s Call.

Husain is a 2012 graduate of the Market Photo Workshop, a photography training school in Johannesburg, South Africa. Husain’s fellowship was funded by the School of Media and Communication and the South Africa Study Away program.
