Multiple victims reported in shootings across the US this weekend
Local media reports from around the US indicate an outbreak of multiple-victim
shooting incidents this weekend.Police are investigating a Sunday night shooting in Georgia 
that left seven people hurt.

Two women, five teens and an elderly man were among the 16 shooting victims reported in Philadelphia this weekend.
A man and a teenage boy were killed, five victims were reported in critical condition, nine were reported stable — and two more women were injured in a collision with a wounded man who was driving a pickup truck. Two triple shootings were reported.
Police investigate the crime scene on 32nd Street near Mt. Vernon Street  in the Mantua section of Philadelphia on Friday May 31, 2013, after man was critically wounded during a shooting.  According to police, they rushed a 21 year-old man to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania suffering from four gunshot wounds to the stomach where he was placed in critical condition. A 21-year-old man was critically wounded in a shooting Friday night on 32nd Street near Mt. Vernon Street in the Mantua section of Philadelphia. Police rushed the victim to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
A 26-year-old man was reported in stable condition at Temple University Hospital after he was shot
 in the back and grazed on the head Friday night in the area of North 5th and West Westmoreland Streets
in North Philadelphia.

Police responding to a report of gunshots found a teenager fatally wounded at Arrott and
 Penn Streets in the Frankford section of the city Friday night.

According to police, they received a call for gunshots at the intersection around 9:40 p.m. and found
 the victim lying on the sidewalk. A large crowd of neighbors gathered around the perimeter of the
crime scene as police gathered evidence around the victim’s body. Police said the victim appeared
 to be very young and estimated that he was between 15 and 19 years old, according to
 the Philadelphia Daily NewsCBS3 is reporting that there have been no arrests.

Three teenagers were wounded by gunfire, one critically, in an incident on Parrish Street near
12th Street in North Philadelphia shortly before midnight Friday. Police and medics rushed
 all three victims to Hahnemann University Hospital.

A 17-year-old was shot once in the left hip and once in the back, according to NBC10,
 adding that an 18-year-old was struck once in the buttocks and a 19-year-old was also
struck once. The 17-year-old is in critical condition, according to a CBS3 report, which
added that the others were reported in stable condition.

Two women and a man were wounded in a shooting incident on Cheltenham Avenue near
18th Street in West Oak Lane at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday. Medics rushed all three victims
to Einstein Medical Center, where one of the women was reported in critical condition.

Police said the victims were standing outside of Winston’s Lounge on 18th and Cheltenham
 around 3:45 a.m., according to NBC10. According to a 6ABC report, police said three armed
suspects opened fire on a group of people at the scene.

On Saturday afternoon, police rushed a 71-year-old man to the Hospital of the University
 of Pennsylvania after he was shot on North Wanamaker Street, not far from 58th and
Vine Streets in West Philadelphia. Police said the victim was struck in the right forehead
and once in the right thumb, according to 6ABC. A source told NBC10 that victim Aaron
 Poindexter was playing cards at his neighbor’s house when a man walked up to the home
and opened fire. The wounded man was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
 and reported in stable condition, according to CBS3.

Five more people were shot from Saturday night into Sunday morning.
A 29-year-old man was pronounced dead at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
after he was shot at about 10 p.m. Saturday in the area of Jefferson and 60th Streets in Philadelphia’s
 Overbrook section. According to an Associated Press reported at philly.com,
police said a victim was hit five times by gunfire. NBC10 reported that investigators
said the victim had been shot once in the head, once in the leg, once in the buttocks,
 once in the groin and once in the knee.

An 18-year-old man was reported in critical condition at Hahnemann University Hospital
after he was shot in the chest at North 32nd and West Berks Streets in the Strawberry Mansion
section of the city at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday. According to NBC10, police said they have a
suspect in custody but they have not yet revealed his identity or a motive in the shooting.

Medics rushed a 30-year-old man to HUP, where he was reported in stable condition after he
 was shot in the back inside a home on Trinity Street near South 68th Street at about 11:30 p.m.
 in Southwest Philadlephia.

Police rushed a 22-year-old man to Temple University Hospital, where he was reported
stable after he was shot in the arm in the area of North 25th and West Hagert Streets at
 about 11:45 p.m. Saturday.

A 23-year-old man was reported in stable condition at Temple after he was shot in the arm
at West Erie Avenue and North 13th Street in the Franklinville section of the city at about
2:45 a.m. Sunday.

No injuries were reported when a gunman opened fire on a crowd on South Street in Society Hill
early Saturday morning and then fired on responding police officers before he was captured.
 According to 6ABC, 43-year-old Isaac Carmichael has been charged with attempted murder,
aggravated assault and related offenses.

Police said Carmichael first fired towards a man, his girlfriend and another woman
who was with them, according to a report form NBC10. Police say the officers did not fire back,
 according to CBS3.

According to the Philadelphia Daily News, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
 is also investigating the incident to see if federal charges are warranted.

In another incident, a gunman made off with cash after a gunpoint home-invasion robbery on
West Bristol Street in Feltonville early Saturday morning.

The only gunshot victim reported Sunday night was the driver of a pickup truck who was then
 involved in a collision at Broad Street and Glenwood Avenue in North Philadelphia. The pickup
 collided with another vehicle — in which two women were injured — and then overturned. Medics
rushed all three victims to Temple University Hospital.

One man was killed and six people were wounded Thursday night. Four more people
were shot, one fatally, early Thursday morning in Philadelphia, and another man
was killed in a double shooting Wednesday night.

Police officers shot three men, one fatally, in confrontations with gun suspects Wednesday.
Eighteen shooting victims were reported over the previous holiday weekend in Philadelphia.

Media reports: Two women injured in collision with wounded pickup driver


  1. The driver of a pickup truck had been shot multiple times before he involved in a collision Sunday
     night at Broad and Glenwood Streets in North Philadelphia. The pickup collided with another 
    vehicle — in which two women were injured — and then overturned. Medics rushed all three
     victims to Temple University Hospital.

    Authorities said that the man in the Ford F-150 was traveling northbound when it crashed into an SUV, causing the truck to flip over at least four times, according to a 6ABC report:
