The New Start Foundation Inc and Artists against Violence staff, volunteers and supporters are committed to our mission of creating the necessary positive changes in our communities by trying our best to help all clients old and new reach their life goals.

We are committed to being the best we can be as a vital resource for those in despair and in need.

Our main focus this year will be working in collaboration with reputable organization everywhere in a quest to manage violence in our nation.

We look forward to enhancing our services and redesigning programs to fit the needs of the individuals we serve.

Thank you to everyone for your support and encouragement in 2016and we are looking forward to a productive, exciting and meaningful 2017.

Why are Philly Dems so quite after Trumps win?

Can anyone tell me why our Philly Dems are so quite after the elections? This is the time that they should be comforting their constituents that everything is going to be alright.

The only one who have been visible is David Cohen and Mayor Kenney. Listen if they don't get it together maybe we all need to consider 2 term limits and get some fresh souls, energy and younger people to be our leaders. That way we don't have to worry about these senior citizens getting too complacent or corruption. What's your thoughts? Do we need to shake things up in Philly?

I'm really getting tired of the damnation of the movement "Black Lives Matter." The movement was created to fight against police brutality and injustices in the black communities!

Why is that so hard for society to understand and respeck that a movement has a direct cause? Stop pushing all the problems of the black community on BLM!

They chose their battles and that's it! The movement is not primarily focused on black & black violence, mass shootings, accidental shootings or gun crimes regardless of their name!

That doesn’t mean they don't care. They are staying focused on their mission. So please stop trying to turn them into something they're not!!!

And on the other hand.....

I'm really getting tired of the damnation of the "All Lives Matter" movement. Whether you like it or not, PEOPLE ARE ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN OPINION! So when I say "All Lives Matter" it is because since being a community activist has become my life work to stand up against ALL ILLEGAL USE OF GUNS, VIOLENCE & CRIME!!! And  I DOUBLE-DARE anybody to come at me for believing "All Lives Matter!"

I believe "All Lives Matter" and this is why: 

In 2008, WE lost a volunteered. He was a former Philadelphia Police Officer named Ernest Flash Miller" who worked with our youth. It was his tragic murder that led me on a crusade to start the Artists against Violence Movement;his life mattered!

And before 2008, I was in the trenches still helping, diffusing and standing up!

Whether it's the accidental shooting of a 4 year old black child or a 5 year old white child it was devastating just reading about it;their lives mattered!

The fathers & mothers who went to work and never made it back home be it Black, White, Hispanic or Pan- Asian; their lives mattered!

All the black & white boys, men and women who lost their life to unjustified shootings at the hands of police;their lives mattered!

And for the countless black men who lost their lives due to Black on Black shootings and crime and for all the innocent bystanders; yes, their lives mattered too!

Our men & women in blue killed in the line of duty;their lives mattered! And all the "True Blue" men & women who risk their lives everyday to serve & protect; their lives matter too!

Victims of home invasions, robberies, stabbings and the like;their lives mattered!

Now with that said, We all know black on black crime and violence is a issue in the black community.

We have foot soldiers and organizations in the trenches everyday. So stop acting like we don't care.....EVERY NEIGHBORHOOD has their issues of violence, murders, suicide, alcohol & drugs abuse, pedophiles, serial killers, teacher molesters and racial bigots and the like in our communities.

Do I need to add some headlines to remind you all that the black, hispanic, white,pan-asian communities have these issues too and lots of them so stop faking it and stop with the cheap shots.

It agitates me listening to poor acting journa-less (pun intended) like tomi lahren. You should be grateful that all Charlamagne called you was "Donkey of the Day" I personally have a few choice words for you. And like most white privilege you think by mentioning that you like Martin Luther King Jr. would silent me. Not a chance in hell.

My next question would be, "and what is it that you like so much about him?  Is it the fact that Martin L. King is gone and not able to break down the present barriers between black and white? Or is it because he no longer can bring a whole nation together that would tumble you and donald trump on the grid. Is it the fact that he was hosed down, arrested, spit on and attacked by dogs? Tell me how much did you study Martin Luther King Jr. in school or had discussions about him growing up in your home?

tomi lahren you are a privileged, oblivious hypocrite that need a time out! I can see you now turning your nose up to the white people, your ancestors, you so desperately highlight in your speech that stood on the frontline of the civil war ha!

Sweety, you think that if you make statements like those stated above, we are to believe that you're not a racist or that you believe black people to be your equal. Oh how cunning ....You little girl is privileged to success and opportunity. The oppression of black people is foreign to the likes of you and those who fund you. 

You're not cunning enough!

So yes, when you sit there and put your two cents in something you know nothing about and reprimand Beyonce, Jay Z, Jessie Williams, Charlamagne, Meek Mills and hollywood elites that proves you are clueless!

Then you had the nerve to say, "if YOU had a super bowl performance", let me stop you right there, are you kidding me tomi? you are talentless so maybe you do have a dream after all!

Now as for my folks yea, I'm not letting you off the hook either. Many of you bashed Stephen A Smith who publicly made the statement agreeing with Martin O'Malley that "All Lives Matter" like he was taking something away from the Black lives Matter movement. Well, he wasn't.He is employed by one of the most diverse industries in America.Where if race is an issue you better keep it to yourself! Look at what happened to Sterling!

 I am the Artists against Violence and we are up in arms about ALL illegal gun use, violence and crime everywhere. Whether its Zachary Hammond or Tamir Rice, Haley Moore or Mariah Davis, James Stuhlman or Milton Morrison or a mass shooting in Orlando......

So for all of you looking to support a movement that stands for "ALL LIVES MATTERING"  then support the "Tear the Gun" movement!

Mass hysteria

The craziest part of mass tragedies is the aftermath.  The people who have done theater mass shootings, school shootings, bombings etc. All have at least 2 things in common. ...they were emotion motivated and didn't have a criminal record. .... but when things like that happen those with a criminal record are  again punished and further segregated from being a productive member of society as well as a respectable member of his/her family which is more important....all in the name of public safety.  When will the punished be truly released from punishment?

A Disappointing Philadelphia

I swear the lack of integrity in the City of Philadelphia is shameful!

1. Blacks murdering Blacks at an alarming rate.....You would think that these terrorists are all strangers to our communities with NO parents, NO family,  NO friends or NO residence in this city.. NO accountability or responsibilty!!!

2. And now our first Black American DA involved in the pay-to-play corruption which he has personally been involved in on the other side bringing down people just like him doing exactly what he has been doing all along...So his Legacy won't be highlighted on strides of violence prevention effort, reentry, high-profile convictions or even a example for young black boys/girls to dream of becoming a DA however you will forever be known as a "crooked and corrupt Black man who thought by being the law put you above the law!!! Damn shame!!!!

3. Everybody wants Mayor Kenney to fire our DA...however Kenneys name has been mentioned as well as other politicians and law enforcement agents and he has even been questioned by the media regarding the investigation with Johnny Doc.... shit we don't need this.... bad enough as Blacks and other colorblind individuals we must gear up to fight a racists to keep him out of the White House or we are all doomed!

 4. Then this morning the headline reads: News — Politics Philly Clout: Judge upholds verdict against Councilman Kenyatta Johnson and the article stated, "Given the evidence, it was reasonable for the jury to conclude that the custom of councilmanic prerogative was the moving force behind the violation of Feibush's constitutional rights," Beetlestone wrote....I don't want to know the story behind the story because perception wins 💯....But what I do know is there is a younger generation who already lack respect for their elders and yes they have good reason!! 

5. This next comment....Oprah's show Greenleaf hit it on the nose: Mega churches need to be investigated while they are living like millionaires using their non profit status to bilk the people out of millions of dollars...Listen Oprah knows what she's doing and I know people heard her loud & clear because in the meantime you have church members jobless, foodless, and pennyless!!!

6. And in the meantime...OUR SCHOOLS are in dire need of help, HOMELESSNESS is being ignored, the VIOLENCE has become a normal way of life, criminals becoming bold, residents becoming more afraid and our City Council, DA &  Sheriff idea and campaign is to buy thousands of gun lock.....REALLY??? Scott Charles got that! This may come as a shock but the ones you need to target dont follow any rules, regulations or laws... especially gun laws and why should they.....they're all carrying illegal weapons anyway!!! 

7. Just get out & VOTE in November it doesn't cost a dime damn!!

I don't know how the rest of you feel but this city that I love which I was born and raised has fallen into the trap of greed, abuse of authority, the highest level of pay-to-olay and more importantly disappointing the people who trusted you to do the right thing......

Philly's Own Gossip Girl: Well Hello Media....

Is the media part of the problem? Whatever happened to "good ole reporting" you know when journalist and news reporters do their homework on what & who they're reporting?
It's no secret that people love their 15 minutes of fame however when those reporting the news do not check the credibility of those they are reporting on adds to the ills of society.

Bottom line: Sad but true NOT everyone who portrays to be an advocate for change is living that truth. Criminals & scam artists have found a way to use the ills of their community as a necessary means to hide behind. But it's up to the journalist and newscasters to get to the nitty gritty and tell the story behind the story. If you all lose sight of that then we have all been dubbed and lose faith in the people we count on to keep us focus and in truth. Especially,in Philadelphia we have great journalist and news reporters who are very respected and engaged way beyond their job. I just hope this message makes sense to them and things change.

Philly's Own Gossip Girl: Violence Prevention is America's Failure

I agree with Ms. #PAYTHIA employment and entrepreneurship are key factors in diminishing violence in the US of A. But I have to wonder with the high stakes and profit that acts of violence causes i.e investors (prisons, funeral homes & burials, city government funding and the like) are government & city officials really trying to reduce violence or are they just saying "SIKE" behind our back.

Think about it for a moment; NOTHING has seemed to work in any city in the United States so you have to start asking why & who is at fault for this failure. And yes for all the people with the titles and positions that "serve the people" YOU HAVE FAILED US A LONG TIME AGO! Heck nowadays if there is a murder in your district you don't even bother to visit the family to bestow your condolences. And you want to wonder why ALL of America is paying #Trump some attention. Although I could never vote for a jackass like Trump to be President, One thing for sure he calls a spade a spade!

Where are the people we vote in office when we need them? Probably greasing their pockets cause violence has NOT knocked at their door.

Well I can tell you one thing for sure.....Violence is not something anyone can control or turn off and on and everyone is at-risk. You see violence can strike at any given time; there are no boundaries, no sacred ground. Schools, churches, market, department store, bank, getting into your car, mowing your lawn, sitting in your living room watching tv. Who will speak for victims & victim families? Who are the voices to be heard and more importantly who will listen?

Remember when the colour of your skin was all the evidence needed to kill, enslave,  rape,  humiliate,  exploit,  terrorize,  lie to,  rob, punish,  etc..as the norm? I implore you to identify the nation of your lineage pre- slavery.  The reason we must accept the lies and conditions is because we don't know what  is indigenous to us...philosophically, demographically, spiritually, emotionally and teachable.  Everyone has a story but why start reading in the middle of it? We question each other's intentions and morals to the point of the "MOSES EFFECT". Simply meaning we continue to find ourselves individually unworthy to face those in control so we elect liaisons...effectively and largely unbeknownst,  giving them the  autonomous authority  to act and react on our behalf....indefinitely.

Tell them that you don't like them so that they can stay the hell out of you face and space! If you believe the #pastor is a "#pimp in the pulpit" let it be known don't bite  your tongue. If #gay people disgust you, that's your right and your opinion. If you have a problem with someone's #race then shout it out to the whole world that's your freedom of speech!  Honestly, that's what missing in America. Believe me when I tell you that they are secretly meeting round table to discuss how to make sure he does NOT win! He is OUT-OF-CONTROL and although they dread seeing another Democrat take possession of the Oval Office they will dread 10 times more having #donald the nit-wit as POTUS

.......Plus he won't listen to a damn thing they have to say.
