Partnership Launched to Help End Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault

The Avon Foundation for Women and several corporations have announced new pledges totaling millions of dollars in support of domestic violence prevention efforts.

Announced as part of No More Week, a weeklong (March 17-24) initiative designed to raise awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault in the U.S., the commitments include three grants from the Avon Foundation in support of efforts to create and disseminate targeted prevention and intervention training tools designed to help friends, families, and strangers recognize, respond, and make appropriate referrals in situations when partner violence, dating abuse, or sexual assault are suspected or observed; $1 million from Mary Kay in support of the loveisrespect text-for-help service and an additional $100,000 for a nationwide parent-child engagement campaign to prevent teen-dating violence; and $1 million from Valeant Pharmaceuticals in support of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

In conjunction with these and other efforts, corporate leaders and advocacy groups met earlier this week with White House officials, including representatives from the White House Council on Women and Girls, to discuss the role that all stakeholders — including the private sector — can play in supporting domestic violence and sexual assault programs.
